Naz said “I saw the difference that a Labour government made in 1997 directly to the accessibility of Bristol University and I saw first hand the investment that they were putting in Education. It was at that stage I decided to join the Labour Party and get involved in politics.”

Naz is passionate about working to make a positive difference and as well as teaching works with several charities including the organization Kith and Kids which he has volunteered for through out his time as a teacher.

Naz said “Kith and Kids is an inspiring charity that really changes lives and works with supports adults and children with disabilities. What’s special about the charity is it really gets involved with the families and there are has a real community of volunteers. The charity has really changed my life and I would encourage anyone with spare time to get in touch and volunteer themselves – as several of my pupils have done in the past.”

Naz has also done stints at Crisis Homeless shelter. He has also fund-raised for AMREF the African Medical Research Foundation and in December 2006 organised a fund-raising party on a boat travelling down the river Thames and raised over £1000.

Naz said “AMREF is another great charity raising money for to medicine and support for sub Saharan Africa, providing equipment to combat HIV/AIDS and Malaria. It was a pleasure to work in such a hands on way with the charity”

As a teacher Naz’s passion is education and if elected he would work in a hands on manner with schools to secure improvements. The Labour government has invested an unprecedented amount of money in Primary Schools, Secondary Schools and Sure Start Centre. Naz would work with local governors, the local council and central government to ensure sustained investment but also make sure we are putting in place practical policies so we give children the best start in life.
